Inktober – Day 19 – Part I

Welcome to day 19 of my Inktober story. Missed the beginning? Here is where it starts.

“Alright, alright! You are clearly not impressed with the result!” the magician laughs while looking at Grog.

“Let me try again! My magic wand should do the trick!”

Inktober – Day 18 – Scrape

Welcome to day 18 of my Inktober story. Missed the beginning? Here is where it starts.

Grog is very much unimpressed with the result of the magic trick.

In a fit of anger he rips down the umbrella.

Inktober – Day 17 – Salty

Welcome to day 17 of my Inktober story. Missed the beginning? Here is where it starts.

Once Grog is on stage the magician asks “So what would you like to see?”

“Can you give me a second wing?” Grog asks.

“Haha! Nothing easier than that!” the magician answers. “All I need is my magic salt!”

Inktober – Day 16 – Fowl

Still playing catch up with my Inktober drawings. I am making slow but steady progress and at this point I am curious to see where the story will go as well. Have a nice weekend!

Welcome to day 16 of my Inktober story. Missed the beginning? Here is where it starts.

They enter the magic show. There are only 5 other guests in the audience, sitting in a dark corner. The armadillo is nowhere to be seen.

The magician on stage is in the middle of the act. Grog and Sasha take a seat in the front row and watch.

“For my next act, I will need a volunteer from the audience!” the magician announces.

Grog jumps up and gets up on stage.

Inktober – Day 15 – Armadillo

Welcome to day 15 of my Inktober story. Missed the beginning? Here is where it starts.

Grog and Sasha relax after eating all the muffins. After a while, they start taking a lazy look around. All the streets are dark and empty except for another dimly lit alley.

“Look at that fella! Where is he going?” Grog asks Sasha, pointing at an armadillo slowly walking down the alley. Curious, they get up and follow him with some distance.

When they get around the next corner, the armadillo has disappeared. At the end of the street they spot a basement entrance. “A magic show!” Grog yells. “Maybe that´s how I can get my wing back!”

Inktober – Day 14 – Empty

Welcome to day 14 of my Inktober story. Missed the beginning? Here is where it starts.

Having searched for Grog´s wing for what felt for hours, both of them were starving. Before they knew it, they had emptied the basket.

Inktober – Day 13 – Kind

Welcome to day 13 of my Inktober story. Missed the beginning? Here is where it starts.

After wandering around aimlessly for a while though the dark streets, Grog and Sasha spot a light in one of the shops. As they get closer, a welcome surprise awaits them.

Inktober – Day 12 – Forget

Welcome to day 12 of my Inktober story. Missed the beginning? Here is where it starts.

On their chaotic escape from the eagle, Grog and Sasha forget to pay attention what direction they are heading.

Suddenly they find themselves in an area that is not familiar to either of them.

Sasha tries to fly higher up, but all the rooftops look the same to her.

Inktober – Day 11 – Eagle

Welcome to day 11 of my Inktober story. Missed the beginning? Here is where it starts.

Grog quickly jumped out of reach of the crab´s claws.

Still being puzzled by the content of the nest, Grog and Sasha did not pay any attention to their surroundings.

Suddenly they heard a screech behind them. Is this the owner of the nest returning? Either way, they did not want to find out and made a run for it!

Inktober – Day 9 – Nest

Welcome to day 9 of my Inktober story. Missed the beginning? Here is where it starts.

After an unsuccessful search of the surrounding streets, Sasha gets bored. “Maybe your wing did not fall down but someone stole it?” she suggests.

“Or maybe it helps if we just change our point of view?” Sasha continues, thinking out loud.

Inktober – Day 8 – Match

…still attempting a very slow catch up on my Inktober drawings…

Welcome to day 8 of my Inktober story. Missed the beginning? Here is where it starts.

Together they start exploring the streets of the city.

Walking past a window, Grog sees his reflection. For a moment it looks like his wings are a perfect match again.

Inktober – Day 7 – Trip

Welcome to day 7 of my Inktober story. Missed the beginning? Here is where it starts.

Eventually Grog comes to the conclusion that his wing was not in the attic.

“Maybe it simply fell down the roof?” Sasha said.

Together they decide to leave the building and explore its surroundings.

Inktober – Day 6 – Bouquet

Welcome to day 6 of my Inktober story. Missed the beginning? Here is where it starts.

Grog and Sasha, who has nothing better to do, decide to keep looking together.

Meanwhile the flames surround a dry bouquet. Their dancing startles a group of moths that had been sleeping in it. While the moths take flight, Grog looks at them and their flapping wings with envy.

Inktober – Day 5 – Flame

Welcome to day 5 of my Inktober story. Missed the beginning? Here is where it starts.

“Maybe they know where my wing is?!” Grog yells, pointing at little white lights that seem to be dancing.

“What is a wing?” the dancing flames reply. “We are having a party. Come and join us!”

But neither Grog nor Sasha were in the mood to join in the wild dancing.

Inktober – Day 3 – Bat

Welcome to day 3 of my Inktober story. Missed the beginning? Here is where it starts.

The closet was empty, except for a large bat staring right at him with big eyes.

It took Grog a moment to get over his surprise.

“Have you seen my wing?” he asks.

“Do I look like I see something?” the bat sneers back.

Inktober – Day 2 – Scurry

Last year during Inktober I put the focus on character design and had fun creating little children´s illustration. This year (after a way to long break from drawing and feeling out of practice) I decided to put the focus on storytelling.

Follow me for whatever story this year´s Inktober prompt list will lead to. Every day´s prompt will be a new page of the story.

Day 1 – meet Grog, the gargoyle. Now you might have notice something different about him.

Day 2 – still a work in progress. Will finish it tonight.

One morning Grog woke up, discovering that one of his wings was missing.

Grog jumped off his usual outdoor wall spot. Maybe someone had put his wing in the attic? He scurried around, looking here and there. But his wing was nowhere to be found.

Work in progress

Getting more worried, he spots a big closet at the other end of the attic. Maybe his wing is in there? Slightly out of breath, he opens the door.

He jumps! That was not what he expected to find!

… to be continued on day 3.

Inktober 2022 – Day 1 – Gargoyle

Time for Inktober again! I thought I had a plan for it, but let´s see how it will go. At least I hope I will develop a more steady drawing routine again!

Prompt for day 1 – Gargoyle – What should we name him?

Stormy Seas

Another Inktober 21 drawing that I didn´t post previously.

Apparently I do enjoy drawing boats, but I don´t like to be in them. Also we had now in average one storm per week for he past 2 months. Good winter in Iceland. Other countries have spring, I´ve been told….

Balancing Act

Going through my sketchbook, I discovered this little guy. He was part of my Inktober 21 drawings, but I never posted him.

So here it is. Fancy a cup of tea?

I´m a ray of fucking sunshine

Found this guy in the beginning of my sketchbook. I got inspired by a t-shirt with above’s headline and though a shoe bill would fit the phrase perfectly. I think they are pretty cool!
