I have a huge backpack that keeps me company while travelling. It often also weighs me down with all the crap I put in it… although I am much better when it comes to packing than in the past.

Day 7 – Shiny Things #WorldWatercolorMonth
Shiny things. First thing that came to mind was the incredible 3000 year old jewellery I saw at the Archeological Museum in Athens. Go and check it out if you are visiting the city. Definitely worth it.
There are plenty of souvenir and jewellery shops in the centre of Athens. I have to admit I was attracted by the shiny things a lot. By accident I discovered in a side street off the tourist path (I usually go the opposite direction from all the tourists) a small family run handmade jewellery shop called Zaras. Fell in love with their earring designs and became quite a good customer during my stay.
Day 6 – Window View #WorldWatercolorMonth
My first thought for this prompt was to draw gluggaveður as Icelanders call it.
Gluggaveður (noun)
“When the weather seems great, when you’re looking through a window from inside, but is actually cold and not so great when you step out without a jacket. Literally it means “window-weather.””
But because the weather is actually nice and almost warm outside, I ended up drawing the opposite. Typical shitty Icelandic windy and stormy autumn day. Let´s keep it realistic.

Day 4 – Family Fun #WorldWatercolorMonth
Prompt for day 4 – Family fun. So as you might have guessed by know, I decided to stick to the theme of travellers. There are so many weird and funny and also plain stupid tourist and travellers out there. It´s an endless source of inspiration! I have also been working in tourism for the last couple of years, and every time you think you have seen it all.. oh boy, it hits you!
I remember going on family holiday. The drama that would always occur somewhere along the way… the chaos of packing, the struggle of getting everyone into the car, siblings fighting in the back seat, sustained yelling, repeated “are we there yet?” chants, and other kind of entertaining incidents that occurred along the long road to the holiday destination. Who has had similar experiences?
Day 3 – Picnic Food #WorldWatercolorMonth
Do you like octopus? The boyfriend loves it and was in food heaven in Athens where you get it fried in many restaurants. During the day you can see them hanging outside, drying in the sun before they end up on your plate. Personally I am disgusted by the idea of eating octopus. But to each his own.

Day 2 – Sunny Sky #WorldWatercolorMonth
Day 2 of World Watercolour month. Bit late in posting and still catching up as I was travelling. In fact I just got back to Iceland… with mixed feelings. It is sunny here but the hot summer days I have left behind in Greece for sure.
On hot and sunny days in Athens you can spot a lot of Asian tourists, covered up head to toe, hiding from the sun. Some were even caring sun umbrellas to be extra safe.
World Watercolor Month – Day 1
I decided to participate again in World Watercolor Month in July.
I had a lot of fun last year doing my Aerial Acrobatics series. I am not quite sure about the theme for this year – it might be travel – in addition to following the prompt list of this year.
Prompt for day 1 – Primary palette. I am off to town to buy better paper as this one turned out to be quite shitty.
