Feeling Blue
Literally. Finished this one yesterday. Had a batch of blue colour on my forehead which I only noticed afterwards while trying to get paint off my hands. No idea how it got there…
Anyway, this one was inspired by a paper graffiti in Reykjavík. I don’t know if it still exists as it was already half destroyed when I left the island in October.
Something new
As promised, I’ve been busy painting these last couple of days and I finished a couple of works I started already in October. So far, all of them are inspired by Iceland and I also attempted my first self-portrait. Or alternative title: Rainbows and unicorns ^^

Back in the paper
Headline says it all. Another article has been published about me and the exhibition in Bad Saulgau, Germany, which is still continuing until 30th of September. Pity I wont get to see it though, as I am still in Iceland enjoying the icy wind and fabulous sunshine ^^
Frontpage
A picture of me was to be found on the front page of a German local paper followed by a brief article about me, my paintings, my travels, and ongoing exhibition on page 2!
Apparently they are going to bring another similar article next week. I’ll keep you posted about that. Meanwhile have a look at this one ^^
Song of the week
The song of this week is by one of my faveourite Icelandic bands Of Monsters and Men. While their beautiful song Little Talks is played around the clock on the radio and I’m afraid I’ve been listening way too much since I heard it the first time in spring on their concert here is another of their songs. I hope their album will be out soon and that I’m gonna catch them live during the next weeks in Reykjavik!
Meanwhile I’ll try to pick a new Song of the Week for Something about Iceland.

Humboldt
I took part in the Dawanda Design competition and my wallpaper was among those to be picked and soon to be put up on the wall in one of the rooms at the Meininger Hotel on Berlin!
The place of the hotel is the location of the former house of Alexander von Humboldt, a German naturalist and explorer. The Meininger Hotel is inspired by Humboldt with each of the rooms and wallpapers relating to a quotation by him. The one I picked was:__________Ich glaube meinerseits, dass man noch größeren Entdeckungen dann immer sehr nahe ist, wenn die Tatsachen in einen scheinbaren Widerstreit treten.An Julius Schmidt, Berlin, 30. Welcome!
Was planning to put up a new and better organized blog some time ago but today on this perfect rainy Sunday afternoon in Reykjavik I finally found the time to do so.
At the moment there’s nothing new that has been already published on my old blog and this one is way from being finished but I’ll keep on working on it over the next few days ^^
