A new place for Bambi

It’s all about old paintings that found a new home this week. This one is adding a splash of colour to a friends apartment in Reykjavik. And he was so nice to take a more that professional picture of it when I asked him for a random shot. I think I will ask him to photograph my new paintings once they are finished. He definitely did a good job and knows what he is doing.

As he wrote me: “I used a 50mm fixed lens, with shadowless ring light, 7 exposure bracket with deep zoom detail and color accuracy to photograph your print.”

Takk fyrir!

Bambi (2)

Lost in translation…

Another painting that found a new/old home in Meckenbeuren, Germany, is this one here that has been inspired by an amazing day in Portmarnock with view of Howth, Ireland. Yes, I miss that place.

Rock on

So I finally started painting again. Meanwhile, this old work which is still one of my favorites is gracing the white wall of a dear friends place near Munich. It is fun not only to see old friends but also old artworks again that I had totally forgotten about.

Feathers and such

It has been a while since the last post. It’s the beginning of a new year and I have started painting again after a longer break.

Meanwhile a few of my paintings have moved to new locations.

This one made it all the way to Guangzhou in southern China.

Feathers

And these two found a new home in Darmstadt, Germany ^^

Siesta II

Blue

Something old again

Exhibition is still in full swing and photos will follow soon. But meanwhile I received a photo of this painting which I had almost forgotten about.

Painted it a long time ago as a present from a friend to her fiance. Meanwhile the sleepy leopard has made it all the way to HAWAII and is keeping them happy. Seems like he got a good home there as he is still sleeping ^^

Exhibition in Reykjavík

Yes, all the works I’ve been painting in June like a mad woman I just put up at this small gallery space in downtown Reykjavik.

The exhibition is titled “What animal are you?”

So if you are around and feel like dropping by you are more than welcome.

The paintings will be on display at Kingdom Withing Tattoo Studio and Gallery, Skólavörðustígur 24, 101 Reykjavík  from September 1st to September 23.

Opening times are Mo – Fr, 10 – 5pm.

See you there!

Findings in Ireland

I went to Ireland for the summer and it was nice to see some of my old paintings again. I gave these two as presents to dear friends of mine a couple of years ago.

Anonymity

The Inner Child. I also did the drawing on the right. Daughter and dog of the family.

Desert Fox II

And dester fox number 2. I thought they look really cute…

And this has nothing to do with this, but I am just reading Flaubert and came across this quote that I liked:

The art of writing is the art of discovering what you believe. – Gustave Flaubert

Desert Fox I

My first desert fox. I discovered them when a colleague asked “What kind of animal do you look like?” and she said that she would be a desert fox.

And I’m getting wings (again)…

Seems like I like similar titles or maybe I just lack imagination for better names (see here Wings I & Wings II) . But here is another follow up painting in the same style as Siesta III. The two kind of complement each other on the wall. It was never intended but somehow just happened.

Old discoveries

I was home on a family visit recently and discovered some of my older works once again. These two are still among my favourites.

Mole the World II

Forgot to post this one. The second mole for Mole the World Project, which you can find also in their gallery. Plus many more moles. You can also send them your own moles ^^

Mole the world

I’ve been busy painting the last couple of weeks and I managed to finish 12 paintings in somewhat record time before heading south for the summer.

Two of the works are dedicated to the in my opinion brilliant Mole the World Art Project.

So here my contribution to mole Reykjavik.

More work in progress…

I’ve been busy painting like crazy the last few weeks. So far there are 8 new paintings, but only 4 of them finished and still a few to go before I take off for the summer.

There’ll be an exhibition opening on September 1st in Reykjavík with hopefully all of my finished paintings ^^ Below is one of the works (that I finished in the meantime) in progress…

What do you think?

Something old and something new

I realized only now that I had a bunch of pictures of older drawings and paintings that I never put online. So I just made an update to the artwork pages.

I’m trying my water colour skills at the moment and some pictures of the latest works that have been inspired by Iceland should be up soon.

Meanwhile you can read here what I have been up to with the Grapevine and on a glacier in Iceland.

French Aurora or something like that

… alternative title: La French Smoker ^^

French Aurora

Thought it is time to add some of the works I created during the Christmas holidays. Thanks for being an inspiration Mr. M 😉

Feeling Blue

Literally. Finished this one yesterday. Had a batch of blue colour on my forehead which I only noticed afterwards while trying to get paint off my hands. No idea how it got there…

Anyway, this one was inspired by a paper graffiti in Reykjavík. I don’t know if it still exists as it was already half destroyed when I left the island in October.

Something new

As promised, I’ve been busy painting these last couple of days and I finished a couple of works I started already in October. So far, all of them are inspired by Iceland and I also attempted my first self-portrait. Or alternative title: Rainbows and unicorns ^^
