I really love how the chimpanzee turned out. He is my favourite so far! What do you think?
I had him on my pinterest board for a long time. I remember trying to draw him a year? / few years ago and it turned out all awkward and wrong. I need to see if I find the old sketch somewhere.
Anyway, good start for the day. Happy sunny weekend ahead!

Yes, the pelican book is still on. It’s very much a work in progress. The manuscript is pretty much finished, and so is the storyboard. And I still like it, after 2 months of break, so that is a good sign.
The next step is to create the first proper illustrations. That’s on the agenda for tomorrow, so I can finally get started on that phase.
One of the reasons I’m doing these watercolour sketches at the moment is to loosen up a bit and explore different approaches until I find a style that feels right. I am also still set on ink and watercolour. Need to experiment more with it. But for now I love my Caran d’ache pencils. What do you think?

Another story in 3 acts. Watercolour on cold press paper.
The other short story in 3 acts you can find here.

Happy weekend everyone! I am definitely late to the party. June came and left and I barely noticed that July had started. As I have been in a creative/ non drawing hole lately I thought I take up the challenge and jump in on World Watercolour Month. It might be a good way to develop a illustration routine again beside work.
I´ll follow the prompt list and focus on lose spontaneous watercolour illustrations to get back into a creative spirit. The goal is to try something new and maybe I will discover a new style along the way.
Who else is participating?
