Currently dreaming of the sun. Sizzling in the sun on a Mexican beach seems very appealing right now…

I had so much fun with the Inktober prompts and my turtle and spider that I decided to keep on going and use the Inktober 52 prompt list to keep on going. It’s a nice way to do warm up sketches while I am working on other projects.
Here is the first prompt – Build. I am not sure what mood I am currently in, building sand castles or snow ones? Or who knows, maybe ash castles, depending on whether the volcano decides to erupt or not 🙂

This Icelandic summer is way better than expected. Another beautiful day to be outdoors!

Summer has arrived here at last.
Also the earthquakes are still going strong. If that volcano errupts again this year I will definitely hike there this time. I missed out on the last two eruptions.
Meanwhile we’ll be at the beach. And another page of my new picture book.

Second day in a row of full on sunshine. This means beachtime!

No rain but also no sun today. Still time to go outside! I really miss the sun.
Another paper cut page from my upcoming picture book.

As previously written, I love water. I started cold-water dipping a couple of years ago and absolutely love doing, especially in nature. But also every swimming pool in Iceland will have a cold water pot next to the hot tubs. That makes it even more enjoyable jumping from hot to cold and back.
Here is another watercolour practice from a year ago. Watercolour on hot press paper.

I made a last one of these Art vs Artists collages. Also more for me as I enjoyed taking a look at my work from last year.
Below are my first proper attempts of watercolour illustrations. I still feel like I have a long way to go. But practice makes you maybe not perfect, but better bit by bit.
Happy weekend!

Just like life, a lot is going on below and above sea level.
This is another seen from my latest Capybaras and Friends Colouring Book.
Happy Monday!

There was this art vs artist posts on Instagram and I am late to the party but this was the image I put together.
It has been a though year with many downs put I have certainly learned a lot illustration wise. I still feel like I have a long way to go until I get to where I want my illustrations to be, but hey, it’s a journey.
Curious to see how my style and skills will further develop throughout the year.
What are you looking forward to?

Capybaras are excellent swimmers and some species like to use them as a free taxi service too.
Illustration from my latest Capybaras and Friends Colouring Book.

I seems like I will be able two more of my open projects just in time for Christmas!
# 1 is a short story about Mr Fox. I am just in the last review stage.
# 2 is another Capybara colouring book! Yes! I am still in love with these poker face rodents and have so much fun drawing them. That’s why I put together another colouring book (as I am still working on my writing skills) with 15 brand new drawings! The drawings are of course again accompanied by old and new fun facts about capybaras. (Here is the first book if you haven’t heard about it yet.)
So if you are still missing a last minute Christmas present or cannot get enough of Capybaras (just like me), then this may be for you.
Here is a sneak peek. It will be available online by the end of the week.
Sun is shining, the weather is sweet. No more cats and dogs, nevertheless I drew a dog.
Let´s say he is sunbathing and enjoying the warmth.
Should I draw a cat tomorrow?

A random camel as a quick drawing practice of the day… It seems like I am developing a style…
And I finally updated and did my portfolio anew. Take a look!
