Shopping in Athens

Ermou Street is the main shopping street in the centre of Athens. I went there only a couple of times as I did not really enjoy the street nor the shopping there. Always thought it was too exhausting.

Too crowded with too many people, tourists and locals, and mainly the same high street shops as anywhere else. But you can also spot the occasional street dog without a care in the world for it all.

Dogs of Athens

After the last couple of cat illustrations I had to do some dogs in between. This is at a small square in Kypseli, Athens. A lot of people come here with their dogs in all sizes. I enjoy watching them. You also see street dogs around Athens, but they are mainly scattered around the centre.

I actually really pity those big hairy fluff-balls. Currently 35 degrees Celsius and I feel like melting. Don´t want to imagine what they are going through with all their fur.

Cats are everywhere!

Discovered this fella (ca 1 metre high statue) in an art gallery in Kifissia in the north of Athens. I liked his posture  and attitude and wanted to draw him. Love how he turned out. I feel like I am starting to like cats (usually a total dog person), not sure what is happening to me…?

Would you like to have him at home?

Get me my Beer, Please

At Barley Cargo in the centre of Athens. Beer bar with a very impressive selection of beer and a beautiful display of it. I don´t think there is a beer they don´t have.

Chasing Pigeons

This little girl had fun going through a crowed of pigeons over and over again, causing havoc. She certainly seemed to enjoy herself.

I sat on a bench just opposite of it, enjoying the March sun in Athens. I thought it was quite warm already, but all the locals were pretty much still out in proper winter gear.

Yes, they work!

I went to check because they looked so old and run down. Athens has plenty of phone booths and as far as I can tell, most of them work. Never seen anyone use them though. These 4 are in the centre, close to the National Museum near Syntagma Square.

I really need to work on my perspective though. When I am lazy it just is all over the place because my main focus is to put colour on paper instead of drawing the outlines.
